I asked Ayesha, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray sitting down?"She replied, "He used to pray for long stretches of the night sitting, and for long stretches of the night standing. When he recited standing, he would bow from a standing position, and when he recited sitting, he would bow from a sitting position."
