I came to Medina and entered upon Ayesha.She asked me, "Who are you?"I replied, "Saad bin Hisham bin Amir."She said, "May Allah have mercy on your father."I said, "Tell me about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite."I said, "Yes, but tell me more."She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would lead the people in the night prayer, then retire to his bed. When the middle of the night came, he would rise for his ablution, perform wudu, then enter the mosque and pray eight rakahs, making the recitation, the bowing, and the prostration in them equal in length. Then he would pray one rakah of witr, then pray two rakahs while seated. Then he would lay down his head, and sometimes Bilal would come and call him for the prayer before he had dozed off, and sometimes I was uncertain whether he had dozed off or not before Bilal came to call him for the prayer."She continued, "This was the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until he grew older and heavier. Then he would lead the people in the night prayer, then retire to his bed. Then he would pray one rakah of witr, then pray two rakahs while seated. Sometimes he would not have dozed off before Bilal came to call him for the prayer, and sometimes I was uncertain whether he had dozed off or not."
حدثنا يزيد قال أخبرنا هشام عن الحسن
قدمت المدينة فدخلت على عائشة فقالت لي من أنت فقلت سعد بن هشام بن عامر قالت رحم الله أباك قال قلت أخبريني عن صلاة رسول الله ﷺ قالت إن رسول الله ﷺ كان يقرأ فقلت أجل ولكن أخبريني قالت كان رسول الله ﷺ يصلي بالناس عشاء الآخرة ثم يأوي إلى فراشه فإذا كان من جوف الليل قام إلى طهوره فتوضأ ثم دخل المسجد فصلى ثماني ركعات يسوي بين القراءة فيهن والركوع والسجود ثم يوتر بركعة ثم يصلي ركعتين وهو جالس ثم يضع رأسه فربما جاء بلال فآذنه بالصلاة قبل أن يغفي وربما شككت أغفى أو لم يغف حتى يؤذنه بالصلاة قالت فكانت تلك صلاة رسول الله ﷺ حتى أسن ولحم وكان يصلي بالناس العشاء الآخرة ثم يأوي إلى فراشه فإذا كان في جوف الليل قام إلى طهوره فتوضأ ثم دخل المسجد فصلى ست ركعات يسوي بينهن في الركوع والسجود والقراءة ثم يوتر بركعة ثم يصلي ركعتين وهو جالس فربما لم يغف حتى يجيء بلال فيؤذنه بالصلاة وربما شككت أغفى أو لم يغف
