The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to relieve himself, then returned. A bone with meat on it was brought to him, and he ate from it without performing ablution.Amr added in this hadith, on the authority of Saeed bin Huwayrith, that it was said, "Messenger of Allah, you did not perform ablution."He replied, "I did not intend to pray, that I should perform ablution."
Its isnad is sahih. The one who says, "and Amr added to what is mentioned above" is Ibn Jurayj, for he heard the hadith from Saeed bin Huwayrith, and he heard the addition from Amr bin Dinar, from Saeed bin Huwayrith. The narration of Amr bin Dinar has already passed at 2558. This is clarified by the narration of Muslim, 1:111, by way of Abu Asim, from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Saeed bin Huwayrith narrated to me, and he related it in a similar manner. At the end of it he said, and Amr bin Dinar added for me, from Saeed bin Huwayrith, that the Prophet ﷺ was asked, "You did not perform wudu?" He said, "I did not intend to pray, so why would I perform wudu?" Amr claimed that he had heard it from Saeed bin Huwayrith.
