The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would open the prayer with the takbir and with the recitation of "Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds" [Fatihah 1:2]. When he made ruku he neither raised his head up nor dropped it down, but held it level between the two. When he lifted his head from the ruku he would not go into sujud until he had straightened up fully. When he lifted his head from the sujud he would not go into sujud again until he had sat up straight. At the end of every two units of the prayer he would recite the greeting. He disliked spreading his forearms out on the ground the way a wild beast does. He would lay his left foot flat and keep his right foot upright. He forbade sitting the way the devil sits. And he would close the prayer with the salutation of peace.
حدثنا يحيى عن حسين قال حدثني بديل عن أبي الجوزاء
كان رسول الله ﷺ يفتتح الصلاة بالتكبير والقراءة ب {الحمد لله رب العالمين} فإذا ركع لم يشخص رأسه ولم يصوبه ولكن بين ذلك وكان إذا رفع رأسه من الركوع لم يسجد حتى يستوي قائما وكان إذا رفع رأسه من السجود لم يسجد حتى يستوي قاعدا وكان يقول في كل ركعتين التحية وكان يكره أن يفترش ذراعيه افتراش السبع وكان يفرش رجله اليسرى وينصب رجله اليمنى وكان ينهى عن عقب الشيطان وكان يختم الصلاة بالتسليم
