The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to divide his time among his wives fairly. Affan said in his narration that he would say, "This is my division of what I am able to control."Then he would say, "O Allah, this is my effort in what I have power over, so do not blame me for what You control and I do not."
حدثنا يزيد قال أخبرنا حماد وعفان قال حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن أيوب قال عفان وحدثنا أيوب عن أبي قلابة عن عبد الله بن يزيد
كان رسول الله ﷺ يقسم بين نسائه فيعدل قال عفان ويقول هذه قسمتي ثم يقول اللهم هذا فعلي فيما أملك فلا تلمني فيما تملك ولا أملك
Its isnad is sahih. Reported by Abu Dawud 2/242 no. 2134, Tirmidhi 3/437 no. 1140, Ibn Majah 1/634 no. 1971, and Darimi 2/67 no. 2207. Hakim graded it sahih 2/187, and Dhahabi agreed with him. All of them recorded it in the chapter on marriage, while Nasai 7/63 no. 3943 recorded it in the chapter on the treatment of women.
