We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey when the day of sacrifice came, so we slaughtered a cow on behalf of seven people and a camel on behalf of ten.

Its isnad is sahih. Fadl bin Musa Sinani, with the sin vowelled as kasrah, so named after Sinan, a village in Khurasan, was reliable, a man of sunnah, and one of the leading scholars of hadith in his era. Bukhari mentions him in Tarikh al-Kabir 1/4/117.Husayn bin Waqid Marwazi, the judge of Marw, was reliable. Ibn Main, Abu Zura, and others confirmed his reliability. Bukhari mentions him in Tarikh al-Kabir 1/2/386.Alba, with the ayn vowelled as kasrah, bin Ahmar Yashkuri, was reliable. Ibn Main and Abu Zura confirmed his reliability. Bukhari mentions him in Tarikh al-Kabir 4/1/78.Tirmidhi related the hadith in 2:356 from Husayn bin Hurayth from Fadl bin Musa, and said, "Hasan gharib, we do not know it except through the hadith of Fadl bin Musa." And in Muntaqa 2691 it is noted that Nasai and Ibn Majah also related it.
