Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

A group of Jews came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Abu Qasim, we want to ask you about five things. If you tell us about them, we will know that you are a prophet and we will follow you."So he took from them the same pledge that Israil took from his sons when they said, "Allah is Witness over what we say" [Yusuf 12:66].He said, "Go ahead."They said, "Tell us about the sign of the prophet."He said, "His eyes sleep but his heart does not sleep."They said, "Tell us, how does a woman bear a female child, and how does she bear a male child?"He said, "The two fluids meet. If the man's fluid prevails over the woman's, the child is male, and if the woman's fluid prevails over the man's, the child is female."They said, "Tell us, what did Israil forbid upon himself?"He said, "He used to suffer from sciatica, and he could find nothing that suited him except the milk of such-and-such." Abdullah bin Ahmad said, "My father said, 'Some of them said, meaning camels.' So he forbade their flesh upon himself."They said, "You have spoken the truth."They said, "Tell us, what is this thunder?"He said, "An angel from the angels of Allah who is entrusted with the clouds. In his hand is a whip of fire with which he drives the clouds, urging them on to wherever Allah has commanded."They said, "Then what is this sound that is heard?"He said, "It is his voice."They said, "You have spoken the truth. Only one thing remains, and it is the one for which we will pledge allegiance to you if you tell us about it. There is no prophet who does not have an angel that brings him news. So tell us, who is your companion?"He said, "Jibreel ."They said, "Jibreel? That is the one who descends with war, killing, and punishment. He is our enemy. Had you said Mikail, the one who descends with mercy, vegetation, and rain, it would have been different."So Allah revealed, "Whoever is an enemy to Jibreel..." to the end of the verse [Baqarah 2:97].

عن ابن عباس قال

أقبلت يهود إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقالوا يا أبا القاسم إنا نسألك عن خمسة أشياء فإن أنبأتنا بهن عرفنا أنك نبي واتبعناك فأخذ عليهم ما أخذ إسرائيل على بنيه إذ قالوا {الله على ما نقول وكيل} قال هاتوا قالوا أخبرنا عن علامة النبي قال تنام عيناه ولا ينام قلبه قالوا أخبرنا كيف تؤنث المرأة وكيف تذكر قال يلتقي الماءان فإذا علا ماء الرجل ماء المرأة أذكرت وإذا علا ماء المرأة آنثت قالوا أخبرنا ما حرم إسرائيل على نفسه قال كان يشتكي عرق النسا فلم يجد شيئا يلائمه إلا ألبان كذا وكذا قال عبد الله بن أحمد قال أبي قال بعضهم يعني الإبل فحرم لحومها قالوا صدقت قالوا أخبرنا ما هذا الرعد قال ملك من ملائكة الله عز وجل موكل بالسحاب بيده أو في يده مخراق من نار يزجر به السحاب يسوقه حيث أمر الله قالوا فما هذا الصوت الذي يسمع قال صوته قالوا صدقت إنما بقيت واحدة وهي التي نبايعك إن أخبرتنا بها فإنه ليس من نبي إلا له ملك يأتيه بالخبر فأخبرنا من صاحبك قال جبريل عليه السلام قالوا جبريل ذاك الذي ينزل بالحرب والقتال والعذاب عدونا لو قلت ميكائيل الذي ينزل بالرحمة والنبات والقطر لكان فأنزل الله عز وجل {من كان عدوا لجبريل} إلى آخر الآية
