Its isnad is sahih. Taliqani is Ibrahim bin Ishaq.Thawr bin Zayd Deeli is trustworthy. Ibn Main, Abu Zura, and Nasai considered him trustworthy, and Malik narrated from him. Malik said about him and about some others he was asked about, "They would rather fall from the sky than tell a single lie." Bukhari included his biography in Tarikh al-Kabir, 2/1/180.As for Ahmad's statement at the end of the hadith, "Taliqani said..." and so on, he means that Taliqani said, in his narration from Fadl from Abdullah bin Saeed, "Thawr told me," meaning that Thawr narrated to Abdullah bin Saeed, not that he narrated to Taliqani.Tirmidhi related the hadith (1:406) from Mahmud bin Ghaylan and others, from Fadl bin Musa, and said, "This is a rare hadith." He then related it from Mahmud bin Ghaylan from Waki, which is the narration that follows this one, from Abdullah bin Saeed bin Abu Hind from one of the companions of Ikrima. By this he means to point out a defect in this connected isnad by comparing it with the other isnad, which contains an unnamed narrator.I said in my commentary on Tirmidhi, 2:483, "This is not a defect. Rather, the isnad of the hadith is sahih. The connected narration is an addition from a trustworthy narrator, and is therefore acceptable." Fadl bin Musa is trustworthy and reliable.Ahmad related the hadith again through Fadl (2792), as did Nasai (1:178) and Hakim (1:236-237), who said, "This is a hadith sahih according to the criteria of the two sheikhs, though they did not include it." Dhahabi agreed with him.Hakim then mentioned a corroborating witness for it with a sahih isnad from the hadith of Sahl bin Hanzaliyya, in which it states, "The Prophet began to pray while glancing toward the mountain pass." It contains a story, and Dhahabi agreed with him on grading it sahih as well.
