I came to Aswad bin Yazid, who was both a brother and a friend to me, and said, "Abu Amr, tell me what Umm Muiminin told you about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."He said that she said, "He would sleep during the first part of the night and stay awake during the latter part. Sometimes he had need of his wife, then he would sleep before touching water. When the first call to prayer came, he would spring up." She did not say "he stood." "Then he would pour water over himself." She did not say "he performed ghusl," though I know what she meant. "And if he was not in a state of major impurity, he would perform ablution as a man does for prayer."
