The Prophet ﷺ said during his illness, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer."Ayesha said to Hafsah, "Abu Bakr is a tender-hearted man. When he stands in your place, the people will not hear him because of his weeping. Tell him to have someone else lead the people in prayer."He said, "Tell him to lead the people in prayer."She kept arguing back with him, and each time he would reply, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer."On the third time he said, "Leave me alone. You are like the women who tried to tempt Yusuf. Let Abu Bakr lead the people in prayer."
حدثنا عفان قال حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
أن النبي ﷺ قال في مرضه مروا أبا بكر فليصل بالناس فقالت عائشة لحفصة إن أبا بكر رجل رقيق فإذا قام في مقامك لم يسمع الناس من البكاء فقال مروه أن يصلي بالناس قال فردت عليه مرارا كل ذلك يقول مروا أبا بكر يصلي بالناس فقال في الثالثة دعيني فإنكن أنتن صواحب يوسف ليؤم أبو بكر الناس
