Ayesha once stayed as a guest with Safiyya, mother of Talha al-Talahat, and saw some of her daughters praying without head coverings, even though they had reached the age of menstruation.Ayesha said, "None of these girls should pray except wearing a head covering. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to see me while a young girl was in my lap. He threw his waist-wrapper to me and said, 'Tear it in half, one piece for this girl and the other for the girl in Umm Salama's lap, for I think she has begun to menstruate,' or he said, 'I think they have both begun to menstruate.'"

أن عائشة نزلت على صفية أم طلحة الطلحات فرأت بنات لها يصلين بغير خمر قد حضن قال فقالت عائشة لا تصلين جارية منهن إلا في خمار إن رسول الله ﷺ دخل علي وكانت في حجري جارية فألقى علي حقوه فقال شقيه بين هذه وبين الفتاة التي في حجر أم سلمة فإني لا أراها إلا قد حاضت أو لا أراهما إلا قد حاضتا
