Ayesha reported,

When Abu Bakr's illness grew severe, he asked, "What day is this?"We said, "Monday."He asked, "Which day was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taken?"We said, "He was taken on a Monday."He said, "Then I hope to die before nightfall."She said, He was wearing a garment with a stain of red clay on it, and he said, "When I die, wash this garment of mine, add two new garments to it, and shroud me in three garments."We said, "Shall we not make them all new?"He said, "No, it is only for the seeping of the body."She said, He died on the night of Tuesday.

عن عائشة قالت

لما ثقل أبو بكر قال أي يوم هذا قلنا يوم الاثنين قال فأي يوم قبض فيه رسول الله ﷺ قال قلنا قبض يوم الاثنين قال فإني أرجو ما بيني وبين الليل قالت وكان عليه ثوب فيه ردع من مشق فقال إذا أنا مت فاغسلوا ثوبي هذا وضموا إليه ثوبين جديدين فكفنوني في ثلاثة أثواب فقلنا أفلا نجعلها جددا كلها قال فقال لا إنما هو للمهلة قالت فمات ليلة الثلاثاء
