Three rulings were issued in connection with Barirah. Her owners wanted to sell her on the condition that they would retain the right of guardianship. She mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Buy her and free her, for guardianship belongs only to the one who frees the slave."She was freed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave her the choice regarding her marriage, and she chose herself. She said, "People used to give her charity, and she would give some of it to us as a gift." She mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "It is charity for her and a gift for you, so eat it."
