Awf bin Malik reported,

Awf bin Malik entered the mosque of Hims and saw people gathered around a man. He asked, "Who is this gathering around?"They replied, "Kaab, who is delivering a sermon."He said, "Woe to him! Has he not heard the saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, 'None should deliver sermons except a ruler, one appointed by a ruler, or one seeking to show off'?"

عن عوف بن مالك قال

دخل عوف بن مالك مسجد حمص قال وإذا الناس على رجل فقال ما هذه الجماعة قالوا كعب يقص قال يا ويحه ألا سمع قول رسول الله ﷺ لا يقص إلا أمير أو مأمور أو مختال
