The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Storytellers are of three kinds, a ruler, one appointed by a ruler, or one seeking to show off."
حدثنا عبد الرحمن عن معاوية بن صالح عن أزهر بن سعيد عن ذي كلاع
قال رسول الله ﷺ القصاص ثلاثة أمير أو مأمور أو مختال
Its isnad is sahih. Dhul-Kalaa Abu Sharahil, cousin of Kaab, was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Hibban 4/223, while others said nothing about him. The hadith has already appeared at 23876 and 23854.
