He informed him that during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a man passed by a group of people, without mentioning Abu Tufayl.Abdullah said, "It has reached me that Ibrahim bin Saad narrated this hadith from memory and said, 'from Abu Tufayl,' but his son Yaqub narrated it from his father without mentioning Abu Tufayl. I consider this to be a mistake, and the correct version is the narration of Yaqub. Allah knows best."
حدثنا يعقوب حدثنا أبي
أنه أخبره أن رجلا في حياة رسول الله ﷺ مر على قوم ولم يذكر أبا الطفيل قال عبد الله بلغني أن إبراهيم بن سعد حدث بهذا الحديث من حفظه وقال عن أبي الطفيل حدث به ابنه يعقوب عن أبيه فلم يذكر أبا الطفيل فأحسبه وهم والصحيح رواية يعقوب والله أعلم
