I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when my name was not Abdullah bin Salam, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me the name Abdullah bin Salam.
حدثنا عبد الله بن محمد حدثنا يحيى بن يعلي أبو محياة التيمي عن عبد الملك بن عمير حدثني ابن أخي عبد الله بن سلام
قدمت على رسول الله ﷺ وليس اسمي عبد الله بن سلام فسماني رسول الله ﷺ عبد الله بن سلام
Its isnad is daif, due to the unknown identity of the nephew of Abdullah bin Salam. Abdullah bin Muhammad is Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, and he is a trustworthy narrator, well known. Yahya bin Yaala Abu Muhayat is trustworthy, and his hadith appears in Muslim. This hadith has already appeared as sahih in a longer form.
