The Messenger of Allah ﷺ reported that a man was being insulted by another in his presence, and the man being insulted kept replying, "Peace be upon you."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, there is an angel between you two defending you. Every time this one insults you, the angel says back to him, 'Rather you, and you are more deserving of it.' And when you say to him, 'Peace be upon you,' the angel says, 'No, rather it is for you, you are more deserving of it.'"
حدثنا أسود بن عامر أنبأنا أبو بكر عن الأعمش عن أبي خالد الوالبي
قال رسول الله ﷺ وسب رجل رجلا عنده قال فجعل الرجل المسبوب يقول عليك السلام قال قال رسول الله ﷺ أما إن ملكا بينكما يذب عنك كلما يشتمك هذا قال له بل أنت وأنت أحق به وإذا قال له عليك السلام قال لا بل لك أنت أحق به
