Umar appointed Numan bin Muqarin to a command. The narrator mentioned the hadith, in which Numan said, "But I witnessed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and whenever he did not fight at the beginning of the day, he would delay the battle until the sun had passed its zenith, the winds began to blow, and victory descended."

أن عمر استعمل النعمان بن مقرن فذكر الحديث قال يعني النعمان ولكني شهدت رسول الله ﷺ فكان إذا لم يقاتل أول النهار أخر القتال حتى تزول الشمس وتهب الرياح وينزل النصر
Its isnad is sahih. Maqil bin Yasar was a companion, and Alqama bin Abdullah Muzani was trustworthy, mentioned frequently, and he was among the trustworthy jurist successors engaged in jihad. His hadith is found in the Sunan works, and the hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud, 3/49, number 2655, in the book of jihad, on what time is preferable for engagement. Tirmidhi narrated something similar in the book of military expeditions, 4/160, number 1613.
