He heard him narrating to Shurahbil bin Simt, who was stationed on guard at the coast, saying, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, 'Whoever stands guard at the frontier for a day or a night will receive a reward equivalent to fasting a month for one who is at home. Whoever dies while stationed at the frontier in the cause of Allah, Allah will continue to reward him for the deeds he used to do, the reward of his prayer, his fasting, and his spending will keep flowing. He will be protected from the trial of the grave and made safe from the greatest terror.'"
حدثنا حسن بن موسى حدثنا ابن لهيعة حدثنا ابن أبي جعفر عن أبان بن صالح عن ابن أبي زكريا الخزاعي
أنه سمعه وهو يحدث شرحبيل بن السمط وهو مرابط على الساحل يقول سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول من رابط يوما أو ليلة كان له كصيام شهر للقاعد ومن مات مرابطا في سبيل الله أجرى الله له أجره والذي كان يعمل أجر صلاته وصيامه ونفقته ووقي من فتان القبر وأمن من الفزع الأكبر
