I said to him, "Abu al-Abbas, what do you make of your statement that no pilgrim who has not brought the sacrificial animal with him performs tawaf around the House without exiting ihram with an umrah, and no pilgrim who has brought the sacrificial animal with him performs tawaf without combining an umrah and a hajj? People do not say this."He replied, "Woe to you! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out, and those of his companions who were with him spoke only of hajj. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded those who had not brought the sacrificial animal with them to perform tawaf around the House and exit ihram with an umrah. One of the men would say, 'Messenger of Allah, but it is hajj!' And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would reply, 'It is not hajj, it is umrah.'"
حدثنا يعقوب حدثنا أبي عن ابن إسحاق حدثني محمد بن مسلم الزهري عن كريب مولى عبد الله بن عباس
قلت له يا أبا العباس أرأيت قولك ما حج رجل لم يسق الهدي معه ثم طاف بالبيت إلا حل بعمرة وما طاف بها حاج قد ساق معه الهدي إلا اجتمعت له عمرة وحجة والناس لا يقولون هذا فقال ويحك إن رسول الله ﷺ خرج ومن معه من أصحابه لا يذكرون إلا الحج فأمر رسول الله ﷺ من لم يكن معه الهدي أن يطوف بالبيت ويحل بعمرة فجعل الرجل منهم يقول يا رسول الله إنما هو الحج فيقول رسول الله ﷺ إنه ليس بالحج ولكنها عمرة
