The polytheists had captured him and his father, then made them pledge not to fight them at the battle of Badr. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Honor your pledge to them, and we will seek Allah's help against them."
حدثنا عبد الرحمن عن سفيان عن أبي إسحاق حدثني بعض أصحابنا
أن المشركين أخذوه وأباه فأخذوا عليهم أن لا يقاتلوهم يوم بدر فقال رسول الله ﷺ فوا لهم ونستعين الله عليهم
