He asked the Prophet ﷺ about a deed that would gain him entry into Paradise.The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Is either of your parents still alive?" He put this question to him several times.The man replied, "No."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then provide water for people to drink."The man asked, "How am I to provide it?"He answered, "Spare them the trouble of the equipment when they come to the water, and carry it to them when they are away from it." In another wording he said, "You spare them the trouble of their equipment when they come to it, and you carry it to them when they are away from it."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا شعبة قال عاصم بن كليب أخبرني قال سمعت عياض بن مرثد أو مرثد بن عياض عن رجل منهم أنه سأل النبي ﷺ عن عمل يدخله الجنة فذكره إلا أنه قال تكفيهم آلتهم إذا حضروه وتحمله إليهم إذا غابوا عنه
