The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I command you with five things. I command you to listen, to obey, to remain with the community, to migrate, and to strive in the path of Allah. Whoever departs from the community by even a hand's span has thrown off the yoke of Islam from his neck. And whoever calls with the call of pre-Islamic ignorance is among the kindling of Hell."A man asked, "Messenger of Allah, even if he fasts and prays?"He replied, "Yes, even if he fasts and prays. So call yourselves by the name Allah has given you, the Muslims, the believing servants of Allah."
حدثنا علي بن إسحاق أخبرنا عبد الله أخبرنا معمر عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن زيد بن سلام عن جده ممطور عن رجل من أصحاب النبي ﷺ قال أراه
قال رسول الله ﷺ وأنا آمركم بخمس آمركم بالسمع والطاعة والجماعة والهجرة والجهاد في سبيل الله فمن خرج من الجماعة قيد شبر فقد خلع ربقة الإسلام من رأسه ومن دعا دعوى الجاهلية فهو جثاء جهنم قال رجل يا رسول الله وإن صام وصلى قال نعم وإن صام وصلى ولكن تسموا باسم الله الذي سماكم عباد الله المسلمين المؤمنين
