The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me when I was ill, along with a group of the Ansar who had come to check on me.He asked, "Do you know who the martyr is?"They remained silent.He asked again, "Do you know who the martyr is?"They remained silent.He asked a third time, "Do you know who the martyr is?"I said to my wife, "Prop me up."She propped me up, and I said, "Whoever embraces Islam, then emigrates, then is killed in the path of Allah, he is a martyr."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "If that were so, the martyrs of my nation would be few indeed. Being killed in the path of Allah is martyrdom, dying from a stomach illness is martyrdom, drowning is martyrdom, and a woman dying in childbirth is martyrdom."
