A Jew passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was sitting and said, "What do you say, Abu Qasim, about the Day when Allah will place the heavens on this," pointing with his index finger, "and the earth on this, and the water on this, and the mountains on this, and the rest of creation on this?" each time gesturing with one of his fingers.He said, then Allah revealed, "They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal" [Zumar 39:67].
حدثنا حسين بن حسن الأشقر حدثنا أبو كدينة عن عطاء عن أبي الضحى
مر يهودي برسول الله ﷺ وهو جالس قال كيف تقول يا أبا القاسم يوم يجعل الله السماء على ذه وأشار بالسبابة والأرض على ذه والماء على ذه والجبال على ذه وسائر الخلق على ذه كل ذلك يشير بأصابعه قال فأنزل الله عز وجل {وما قدروا الله حق قدره}
Its chain of transmission is daif, due to the weakness of Husayn bin Hasan Ashqar, as we mentioned in 888. Abu Kudayna, with the kaf pronounced with damma, his name is Yahya bin Muhallab Bajali, and he is trustworthy. Ibn Main, Abu Dawud, Nasai, and others confirmed his reliability, and Bukhari mentioned him in Kabir 4/2/305.However, the hadith is sahih, because it is established through a route other than that of Husayn Ashqar. Tirmidhi narrated it in 4/176–177 from Darimi from Muhammad bin Salt from Abu Kudayna, and Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan, rare, and sahih hadith. We do not know it except through this route. Abu Kudayna's name is Yahya bin Muhallab."I saw that Muhammad bin Ismail narrated this hadith from Hasan bin Shuja from Muhammad bin Salt. Ibn Kathir cited it in his tafsir 7/263 from Musnad, then also attributed it to Tirmidhi.
