I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying while carrying Umama, or Umayma, the daughter of Abu al-As and the daughter of Zaynab. He would carry her when he stood and set her down when he bowed, until he finished the prayer.
حدثنا بشر بن المفضل أبو إسماعيل عن عبد الرحمن يعني ابن إسحاق عن زيد بن أبي عتاب عن عمرو بن أبي سليم
رأيت رسول الله ﷺ وهو يصلي يحمل أمامة أو أميمة بنت أبي العاص وهي بنت زينب يحملها إذا قام ويضعها إذا ركع حتى فرغ
Its isnad is sahih. Zayd bin Abu Attab is trustworthy, and his hadith appears in the Sunan. Amr bin Abu Salim is among the trustworthy of the Followers, and his hadith is found in the collections of the Jamaah. This hadith was narrated by Muslim, 1/385, no. 543, in the chapter on mosques, and similarly by Bukhari, 1/590, no. 516 (Fath), Nasai, 2/95, no. 827, in the chapter on leading prayer, Darimi, 1/363, no. 1359, and Malik, 1/170, no. 81, in the chapter on shortening the prayer.
