The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever produces evidence that he killed a slain enemy is entitled to his spoils."
Its isnad is sahih. Amr bin Kathir bin Aflah was deemed reliable by Ibn Hibban, and Abu Hatim said, "There is no harm in him." He is not the same as Amr bin Kathir. As for Abu Muhammad, he is Nafi bin Abbas, who is, according to the more well-known view, the freed slave of Abu Qatada. He is trustworthy, and his hadith is accepted by the whole community of scholars. This hadith with this wording is found only in Ahmad, though its well-known wording has already appeared, "Whoever kills an enemy combatant keeps his spoils," narrated from Anas from Abu Qatada. See 12975.
