The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lead us in prayer. In the first two units of the noon prayer, he would recite, and at times he would let us hear a verse. He would lengthen the first unit and shorten the second. He did the same in the dawn prayer, lengthening the first unit and shortening the second. He would also recite for us in the first two units of the afternoon prayer.
