We were returning from the Prophet ﷺ when we came upon an Arab tribe. They said, "We have been told that you have come from this man with something good. Do you have any medicine or any healing incantation? We have a man here who is insane, kept in chains."We said, "Yes."They brought the insane man in his chains. I recited the Opening of the Book over him for three days, morning and evening. I would gather my saliva and then spit. It was as though he had been released from a binding.They offered me a payment, but I said, "No, not until I ask the Prophet ﷺ."So I asked him, and he said, "Take it. By my life, some people take payment for a false incantation, but you have taken it for a true one."

أقبلنا من عند النبي ﷺ فأتينا على حي من العرب فقالوا أنبئنا أنكم جئتم من عند هذا الرجل بخير فهل عندكم دواء أو رقية فإن عندنا معتوها في القيود قال فقلنا نعم قال فجاءوا بالمعتوه في القيود قال فقرأت بفاتحة الكتاب ثلاثة أيام غدوة وعشية أجمع بزاقي ثم أتفل قال فكأنما نشط من عقال قال فأعطوني جعلا فقلت لا حتى أسأل النبي ﷺ فسألته فقال كل لعمري من أكل برقية باطل لقد أكلت برقية حق
Its isnad is sahih. Abdullah bin Abu Safar has been mentioned frequently before, and he is trustworthy, with his hadith appearing in the Sahihayn. This hadith is like the one before it.
