The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever swears an oath falsely in order to seize the property of a Muslim by means of it will meet Allah while He is angry with him."Ashath said, "By Allah, this was about me. There was a piece of land between me and a Jewish man, and he denied my right to it, so I brought him before the Prophet ﷺ."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Do you have any evidence?"I said, "No."He then said to the Jew, "Swear an oath."I said, "Messenger of Allah, then he will swear and take my property."So Allah the Exalted revealed, "Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a small price" [Al Imran 3:77], to the end of the verse.
