Abu Dharr came to the Prophet ﷺ while in a state of major ritual impurity. The Prophet ﷺ called for water for him, and Abu Dharr screened himself and bathed.Then the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Clean earth is the means of purification for the Muslim, even if he does not find water for ten years. But when he finds water, let him touch it to his skin, for that is better."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا سفيان عن أيوب السختياني وخالد الحذاء عن أبي قلابة كلاهما ذكره خالد عن عمرو بن بجدان وأيوب عن رجل
أن أبا ذر أتى النبي ﷺ وقد أجنب فدعا له النبي ﷺ بماء فاستتر واغتسل ثم قال له إن الصعيد الطيب وضوء المسلم وإن لم يجد الماء عشر سنين وإذا وجد الماء فليمسه بشرته فإن ذلك هو خير
