The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Fear Allah wherever you are, follow a bad deed with a good one and it will erase it, and treat people with good character."Waki said, Sufyan once narrated it from Muaz, but I found in my notebook that it was from Abu Dharr, and that is the original hearing.

أن النبي ﷺ قال له اتق الله حيثما كنت وأتبع السيئة الحسنة تمحها وخالق الناس بخلق حسن قال وكيع وقال سفيان مرة عن معاذ فوجدت في كتابي عن أبي ذر وهو السماع الأول
