Abu Dharr reported,

I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the mosque when the sun was setting. He said, "Abu Dharr, do you know where the sun goes?"I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He said, "It travels until it prostrates before its Lord , then it asks permission to return, and permission is granted to it. Soon it will be as though it has been told, 'Return from where you came,' so it will return to its place of rising. That is its resting place." Then he recited, "And the sun runs toward its resting place" [Ya-Sin 36:38].

حدثنا محمد بن عبيد حدثنا الأعمش عن إبراهيم التيمي عن أبيه

عن أبي ذر قال

كنت مع رسول الله ﷺ في المسجد حين وجبت الشمس فقال يا أبا ذر تدري أين تذهب الشمس قلت الله ورسوله أعلم قال فإنها تذهب حتى تسجد بين يدي ربها عز وجل فتستأذن في الرجوع فيؤذن لها وكأنها قد قيل لها ارجعي من حيث جئت فترجع إلى مطلعها فذلك مستقرها ثم قرأ {والشمس تجري لمستقر لها}
