Hasan Basri reported,

Umar intended to forbid the tamattu form of Hajj. Ubayy said to him, "That is not for you to do. We performed tamattu with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he did not forbid it." So Umar gave up that intention.He also intended to forbid the striped Yemeni garments because they were dyed with urine. Ubayy said to him, "That is not for you to do. The Prophet ﷺ wore them, and we wore them in his time."

أن عمر رضي الله عنه أراد أن ينهى عن متعة الحج فقال له أبي ليس ذاك لك قد تمتعنا مع رسول الله ﷺ ولم ينهنا عن ذلك فأضرب عن ذلك عمر وأراد أن ينهى عن حلل الحبرة لأنها تصبغ بالبول فقال له أبي ليس ذلك لك قد لبسهن النبي ﷺ ولبسناهن في عهده
