A man came in to see the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ asked him, "When did you last have a bout of fever?" referring to the heat that lies between skin and flesh.The man replied, "That is a pain I have never suffered."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "The believer is like a tender stalk of grain, turning red at one time and yellow at another."
حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن إسماعيل بن أمية عمن حدثه عن أم ولد أبي بن كعب
أنه دخل رجل على النبي ﷺ فقال متى عهدك بأم ملدم وهو حر بين الجلد واللحم قال إن ذلك لوجع ما أصابني قط قال رسول الله ﷺ مثل المؤمن مثل الخامة تحمر مرة وتصفر أخرى

Its isnad is daif, due to the unknown identity of the female narrator who reported from Ubayy and the one who reported from her. The hadith was mentioned previously at 15709. It is also found in Bukhari, 10/103, no. 5643 of Fath al-Bari, and in Muslim, no. 2810.
