Zirr bin Hubaysh reported,

I said to Ubayy bin Kaab, "Ibn Masud did not write the two surahs of refuge in his copy of the Quran."Ubayy replied, "I bear witness that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed me that Jibreel said to him, 'Say, I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak,' so he said it. Then Jibreel said, 'Say, I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind,' so he said it. So we say what the Prophet ﷺ said."

عن زر بن حبيش قال

قلت لأبي بن كعب إن ابن مسعود كان لا يكتب المعوذتين في مصحفه فقال أشهد أن رسول الله ﷺ أخبرني أن جبريل عليه السلام قال له قل أعوذ برب الفلق فقلتها فقال قل أعوذ برب الناس فقلتها فنحن نقول ما قال النبي ﷺ
