The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shall I not teach you a surah the like of which has not been revealed in the Torah, nor in the Psalms, nor in the Gospel, nor in the Quran?"I said, "Yes indeed."He said, "I hope that I will not leave through that door until you have learned it." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up, and I stood with him. He took me by the hand and began speaking with me until we drew near the door.I then reminded him and said, "Messenger of Allah, the surah you mentioned to me."He said, "How do you recite when you stand to pray?" So I recited the Opening of the Book.He said, "That is it. It is the Seven Oft-Repeated Verses and the Great Quran which has been given to me."Abdullah said, I asked my father about Ala bin Abdul-Rahman and Suhayl bin Abu Salih, and he gave precedence to Ala over Suhayl, saying, "I have not heard anyone speak ill of Ala." And Abu Abdul-Rahman said, "Abu Salih is more beloved to me than Ala."
قال عبد الله حدثني أبو معمر قال حدثنا أبو أسامة عن عبد الحميد بن جعفر عن العلاء بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه عن أبي هريرة
قال رسول الله ﷺ ألا أعلمك سورة ما أنزل في التوراة ولا في الزبور ولا في الإنجيل ولا في القرآن مثلها قلت بلى قال فإني أرجو أن لا أخرج من ذلك الباب حتى تعلمها ثم قام رسول الله ﷺ فقمت معه فأخذ بيدي فجعل يحدثني حتى بلغ قرب الباب قال فذكرته فقلت يا رسول الله السورة التي قلت لي قال فكيف تقرأ إذا قمت تصلي فقرأ بفاتحة الكتاب قال هي هي وهي السبع المثاني والقرآن العظيم الذي أوتيت بعد قال عبد الله سألت أبي قال عن العلاء بن عبد الرحمن وسهيل بن أبي صالح فقدم العلاء على سهيل وقال لم أسمع أحدا ذكر العلاء بسوء وقال أبو عبد الرحمن وأبو صالح أحب إلي من العلاء
