Ubayy bin Kaab said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me a verse." Then another man recited that same verse differently from Ubayy's recitation, so Ubayy asked him, "Who taught you to recite it that way?"The man replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught it to me."Ubayy said, "By Allah, he taught it to me in such and such a way."Ubayy continued, "No doubt about Islam ever stirred within me as it stirred that day. So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'Messenger of Allah, did you not teach me a certain verse in such a way?'He said, 'Yes, I did.'I said, 'But this man claims that you taught him to recite it in such and such a way.'Then he struck my chest with his hand, and that doubt left me. I never felt anything of it again. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Jibreel and Mikail came to me, and Jibreel said, "Recite the Quran in one dialect." Mikail said, "Ask for more." So he said, "Recite it in two dialects." Mikail said, "Ask for more," until it reached seven dialects. He said, "Each one is healing and sufficient."'"
