Umar said, "Ali is the most skilled among us in judgment, and Ubayy is the best of us in recitation. Yet we set aside some of what Ubayy says, for Ubayy says, 'I took it from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I will not abandon it.' But Allah says, 'Whatever verse We abrogate or cause to be forgotten' [Baqarah 2:106]."
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن سفيان حدثني حبيب يعني ابن أبي ثابت عن سعيد بن جبير
قال عمر علي أقضانا وأبي أقرؤنا وإنا لندع من قول أبي وأبي يقول أخذت من فم رسول الله ﷺ فلا أدعه والله يقول {ما ننسخ من آية أو ننسها}
