Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

Umar said, "Ali is the most skilled among us in judgment, and Ubayy is the best among us in recitation, yet we set aside much of what Ubayy recites. Ubayy says, 'I heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I will not abandon it for anything,' though Allah says, 'We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring one better than it or similar to it' [Baqarah 2:106]."

حدثنا وكيع حدثنا سفيان عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت عن سعيد بن جبير

عن ابن عباس قال

قال عمر رضي الله عنه علي أقضانا وأبي أقرؤنا وإنا لندع كثيرا من لحن أبي وأبي يقول سمعت من رسول الله ﷺ فلا أدعه لشيء والله تبارك وتعالى يقول {ما ننسخ من آية أو ننسها نأت بخير منها أو مثلها}
