They entered a village, and Abdullah bin Khabab came out in alarm, dragging his cloak behind him.They said, "You have nothing to fear."He replied, "By Allah, you certainly have frightened me."They asked, "Are you Abdullah bin Khabab, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He said, "Yes."They said, "Then did you hear any hadith from your father that he related from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Relate it to us."He said, "Yes, I heard him relate from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he mentioned a time of turmoil in which the one who sits is better than the one who stands, the one who stands is better than the one who walks, and the one who walks is better than the one who runs. He said, 'If you live to see that, then be Abdullah the slain.'"Ayub said, "I am certain he also said, 'And do not be Abdullah the slayer.'"They said, "You heard this from your father, who related it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He said, "Yes."So they brought him forward to the bank of the river and struck off his head. His blood flowed out like the strap of a sandal, without scattering. Then they cut open the mother of his child to get at what was in her womb.He explained that "ma ibdhaqarra" means it did not scatter. And he said, "Do not be Abdullah the slayer," and Bahz likewise said the same.
