I came to the Prophet ﷺ to speak with him about some captives of ours who had been taken during the days of ignorance. I found him addressing the people, with a circle gathered around him. He was seated, wearing a thick striped waist-wrap from Qatar.The first thing I heard him say, while gesturing with his hand like this, and Mubarak pointed with his index finger, was, "A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He does not wrong him, nor does he forsake him. Piety is here. Piety is here," meaning in the heart.
حدثنا عفان حدثنا المبارك بن فضالة حدثنا الحسن أخبرني
أتيت النبي ﷺ أكلمه في سبي أصيب لنا في الجاهلية فإذا هو يحدث القوم وحلقة قد أطافت به فإذا هو قاعد عليه إزار قطر له غليظ أول شيء سمعته منه يقول وهو يقول بيده هكذا وأشار المبارك بإصبعه السبابة المسلم أخو المسلم لا يظلمه ولا يخذله التقوى هاهنا التقوى هاهنا أي في القلب
