He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ along with a group of bedouins and said, "We are people of the desert." He then mentioned the hadith, except that he said, "Do not insult him for what you know about him, for the reward of that will be yours and its burden upon him."
حدثنا عبد الصمد حدثنا سلام حدثنا عقيل بن طلحة
أنه أتى رسول الله ﷺ في أناس من أهل البادية فقالوا إنا من أهل البادية فذكر الحديث إلا أنه قال فلا تشتمه بما تعلم فيه فإن أجر ذلك لك ووباله عليه
