Malik bin Huwayrith used to come to our place of prayer and converse with us. One day the time for prayer arrived, so we said to him, "Step forward and lead us."He replied, "No, let one of you step forward. Let me first tell you why I will not lead. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever visits a people should not lead them in prayer. Rather, a man from among them should lead.'"
