We came to the Prophet ﷺ when we were young men, and we stayed with him for about twenty nights. He said to us, "If only you would return to your homelands." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was merciful, so he said, "Teach them."Siraj's version says, "And instruct them to perform such-and-such prayer at such-and-such time."Yunus's version says, "Command them to perform such-and-such prayer at such-and-such time, and such-and-such prayer at such-and-such time. When the time for prayer arrives, let one of you give the call to prayer, and let the eldest among you lead you."
حدثنا سريج ويونس قالا حدثنا حماد يعني ابن زيد حدثنا أيوب عن أبي قلابة
قدمنا على النبي ﷺ ونحن شببة قال فأقمنا عنده نحوا من عشرين ليلة فقال لنا لو رجعتم إلى بلادكم وكان رسول الله ﷺ رحيما فعلمتموهم قال سريج وأمرتموهم أن يصلوا صلاة كذا حين كذا قال يونس ومروهم فليصلوا صلاة كذا في حين كذا وصلاة كذا في حين كذا فإذا حضرت الصلاة فليؤذن لكم أحدكم وليؤمكم أكبركم
