I asked Ibn Abbas about selling wine, and he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a friend from Thakeef, or from Daws, who met him in Mecca during the year of the Conquest with a large skin of wine intended as a gift for him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'So-and-so, do you not know that Allah has forbidden it?'The man turned to his servant and said, 'Go and sell it.'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, 'So-and-so, what did you order him to do?'He replied, 'I ordered him to sell it.'He said, 'The One who forbade drinking it has forbidden selling it.'So he gave the order, and it was poured out into the valley."

سألت ابن عباس عن بيع الخمر فقال كان لرسول الله ﷺ صديق من ثقيف أو من دوس فلقيه بمكة عام الفتح براوية خمر يهديها إليه فقال رسول الله ﷺ يا أبا فلان أما علمت أن الله حرمها فأقبل الرجل على غلامه فقال اذهب فبعها فقال رسول الله ﷺ يا أبا فلان بماذا أمرته قال أمرته أن يبيعها قال إن الذي حرم شربها حرم بيعها فأمر بها فأفرغت في البطحاء
Its isnad is sahih. Qaqa bin Hakeem al-Kinani is trustworthy, deemed reliable by Ahmad, Ibn Main, and others. Bukhari mentioned him in al-Kabir 4/1/188 without recording any criticism of him. The hadith was narrated by Muslim and Nasai, as noted in al-Muntaqa 4702. Its meaning will come again at 2190 and 2980.
