A man came to Ibn Abbas and said, "I am a man from the people of Khurasan, and our land is a cold land." He then mentioned various kinds of drinks.Ibn Abbas replied, "Avoid whatever intoxicates, whether made from raisins, dates, or anything else."The man asked, "What do you say about drink fermented in clay jars?"Ibn Abbas answered, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade drink fermented in clay jars."
حدثنا يحيى عن عيينة بن عبد الرحمن
جاء رجل إلى ابن عباس فقال إني رجل من أهل خراسان وإن أرضنا أرض باردة فذكر من ضروب الشراب فقال اجتنب ما أسكر من زبيب أو تمر أو ما سوى ذلك قال ما تقول في نبيذ الجر قال نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن نبيذ الجر
Its isnad is sahih. Uyayna bin Abdul-Rahman is trustworthy, as we said at 345, and Bukhari mentioned him in al-Kabir 4/1/73. In H it appears as "Ibn Uyayna bin Abdul-Rahman," which is an error, and we corrected it from K.His father, Abdul-Rahman bin Jawshan al-Ghatafani, is a trustworthy successor. Abu Zura and Ibn Saad and others confirmed his reliability. Ibn Abbas has hadiths about nabidh made in jars, some of which have already passed at 185 and 260, and more of which will come at 2020 and 2028. See also al-Muntaqa 4747.
