A domestic sheep belonging to Maymunah died, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Why did you not make use of its hide? Why did you not tan it? Tanning is its purification."

Its isnad is sahih. All the group narrated it except Ibn Majah, with the same meaning. See al-Muntaqa 83, and see what came before at 1895.Al-dajin means the sheep that people feed in their homes. In Lisan al-Arab it says, some people say it with the ha, meaning dajinah, and this hadith is evidence for that.Alla with a doubled lam means the same as halla.
