Its chains of transmission are sahih. Hisham bin Urwa reported it through three chains, from Wahb bin Kaysan, from Muhammad bin Ali, and from Zuhri.Hisham bin Urwa bin Zubayr, a trustworthy and authoritative Successor.Wahb bin Kaysan, freedman of the family of Zubayr, a trustworthy Successor from Madinah.Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata, a trustworthy Successor, who was a man of truthfulness, dignity, and honor.Muhammad bin Ali bin Abdullah bin Abbas, trustworthy, firmly reliable, and well known. He is the grandfather of the Abbasid caliphs, the father of Saffah and Mansur, and the first to openly proclaim the Abbasid call.His father, Ali bin Abdullah bin Abbas, was a trustworthy, devout Successor, among the best of people.Al-irq (with a fatha on the ayn and a sakin on the ra) is defined in Nihaya as a bone from which most of the meat has been removed. Its plural is iraq (with a damma on the ayn and a light ra), which is an irregular plural.This hadith carries the same meaning as hadiths 1988 and 1994.
